Ryder Turns Four | A Birthday Letter to My Boy

Ryder Turns Four

I’m not sure how we got here so quickly, but just like that—my little boy is four years old.

Motherhood is full of the deepest joys and the hardest days. It’s early mornings, long nights, and constant stretching in ways I never knew I could. But more than anything, it’s the absolute miracle of watching someone grow right in front of your eyes.

I still remember holding Ryder in the hospital, completely overwhelmed by how tiny and new he was. And now—just four years later—I look at this mischievous, kind, hilarious little boy and wonder how it all happened so fast.

He has the biggest heart. He’s sweet, gentle, and always watching out for his little brother. He brings fun wherever he goes—whether it’s turning a quiet room into a dance party or cracking jokes that make us laugh out loud.

And while he’s still every bit my wild little boy, he’s also become one of my best friends. I genuinely love being around him. I love the way he sees the world. And I thank God every day that I get to be his mama.

If you know Ryder, you know he’s something special. He’s a light. And he’s made the last four years of my life brighter than I could’ve ever dreamed.

So today, we celebrate him. All of him.

A Note for You, Mama

They don’t stay little for long. I know everyone says that—but I’m telling you, it’s true.

Four years ago, I was rocking a newborn. Today, I’m chasing after a mischievous, barefoot boy with a water balloon.

Whatever season you’re in—whether you’re deep in the newborn haze or trying to keep up with a toddler tornado—now is the time to document it. These years move fast, and one day, you’ll be so glad you pressed pause to preserve the beauty of it all.

As a North Carolina family photographer, I know just how meaningful these fleeting moments are. Whether it’s sandy toes, bedtime stories, or belly laughs, I want to help you hold on to the season you’re in.

Let’s make sure you don’t miss it.
