Spring family photos in Rock Hill, South Carolina is full of new beginnings—and it’s one of my favorite seasons for family portraits. Trees burst into bloom, the air is fresh, and golden light filters in just right. It’s a season that feels full of life and possibility, which makes it the perfect backdrop for meaningful family memories.
This session with the Catledge family at Glencairn Garden was a beautiful reminder of everything I love about spring sessions: sweet little milestones, quiet joy, and the simplicity of time well spent together.
If you’ve never visited Glencairn Garden in the spring, go ahead and add it to your weekend list! With its winding paths, peaceful fountain, willow trees, and blooming flower beds, it’s one of the most charming portrait locations in the Upstate.
Even though we just missed the peak of the azaleas, the garden offered so many beautiful spots for portraits. Jack—who just turned one—loved the open space to wander, and the natural textures and colors made every photo feel soft, timeless, and full of life.
One of the best parts about spring sessions? The weather. It’s usually just warm enough for kids to be comfortable without bulky winter layers, but cool enough to keep everyone relaxed.
Jack was full of curiosity and calm during the session. He toddled through the grass, snuggled with his parents, and paused to listen to the bubbling fountain. These quiet, wonder-filled moments are what make spring so magical for family photos—especially with little ones.
This session wasn’t just about spring—it was about celebrating a huge milestone: Jack turning one. Dylan and Catelyn wanted a session that felt natural and joy-filled to mark the occasion, and that’s exactly what we created.
From Jack’s tiny hand wrapped around his dad’s finger to the way he lit up each time his mom smiled, this session was filled with the warmth of their first year as a family of three. These are the kinds of moments I’m always honored to preserve.
As a Rock Hill portrait photographer serving families across Upstate SC and Charlotte, NC, I can’t recommend spring highly enough. Whether you’re updating your family photos or celebrating a milestone like a first birthday, this season offers the perfect setting.
If you’re dreaming of relaxed portraits in a garden like Glencairn, and heirloom artwork you’ll treasure forever, I’d love to help you plan something meaningful.
